A Certified Naturally Grown Farm - Saint Marys, Pennsylvania
Each year, as the doldrums of Winter settle in here in Pennsylvania, folks from around the country gather in Central Pennsylvania for one of the nation’s premiere and long-standing sustainable ag conferences – PASA’s “Farming for the Future” Conference!
PASA (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture) is an incredible organization based in Millheim, PA with regional offices throughout the Commonwealth. Rather than re-invent the wheel, here’s an excerpt from their website…
“In existence since 1992, the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA) is a diverse network of growers, businesses and consumers that facilitate and enable viable farming systems to provide healthy food as locally as possible through innovative programs of education, marketing and advocacy in service to its members and the general public.
As the largest statewide, member-based sustainable farming organization in the United States, we seek to improve the economic viability, environmental soundness and social responsibility of food and farming systems in Pennsylvania and across the country. We place great value on efforts to build bridges between broadly diverse participants in the agricultural industry, from “farm to fork.”
PASA grew out of the need for an educational and support system for farmers – both experienced and beginning – interested in non-traditional agricultural practices, such as organic, biodynamic and grass-based farming, as well as the desire to create local markets for sustainably produced food.
PASA’s mission is the underlying theme of all of our programs – promoting profitable farms that produce healthy food for all people while respecting the natural environment – as our work is rooted in education and support for farmers, and outreach to the general public.”
Each year the PASA Conference (or just simply “PASA”, as it’s not uncommon to hear “Are you going to PASA this year?!”) provides a deep, rich opportunity to extend your existing ag knowledge, learn many things completely knew, connect with old friends and make new, long-lasting friendships. If you’re looking for your “Ag-fix!” each year, check it out!
